perhaps then if we are offering advice we should ask them if they want it, perhaps via a pm perhaps,

and allways offering good coments even if it may not be 100%,
even 50% is worth prase for a beginner,

after all it must seem very daunting for a beginner starting to get a load out sorted,

i,m shore we can all sound a little eletist when we start talking about kit etc, after all its one of ower loves ah :)

Neil as we spend a hell of a lot of time and money at our own expense making these games happen, i feel we have right to set the standards we'd like to game at ourselves.

Don't forget though Gadge the amount of money people spend on actually travelling up here (or down here from Scotland) to come to these events, I know when we went down to KGB in May that cost me about

I see that matt, but equally the more guys you have organising things the harder it actually sometimes becomes as you have to take longer ot make decisions as not everybody will always agree.

Ideally I'd love it if i had the free time to get to somebody else's WWII event and play in that.

Close actions was pretty good and thats the only one i've been able to do so far.

Hoping i can get up to Warrens game up north.

I really dont want to restart any dispute here so i'll leave it at that.

Ooooh no I didn't mean making/taking decisions on the way things are run, but more over like helping to build something which would enhance the game play of something you guys were thinking of in your game brief discussions. Like Syd helped Guy make the V1 for CR. You guys have helped create a self sustaining community of WW2 airsoft enthusiast, I'm sure there would be lots of support if you ever needed it.

Only a PM or a post away. :)

Just for the record Neill, CiA's 'constitution' is:

Non-profit making and site independent
Organise WW2 games that follow a 'film-sim' principle (restricted ammo, authentic uniforms and weapons, period props) giving a high degree of suspension of belief
Clear and consistent rules for CiA and CiA supported games
Encourage site owners to run like-minded WW2 games
Create a hub for WW2 airsofters to share their enthusiasm
Forge links between suppliers, sites and players
Keep an 'friendly and inclusive' approach rather than 'elitist and stitch-counting'

This goes for games as well as the forum (although forums being forums tend to have a life of their own!). When chaps ask for advice or help it is given. I haven't seen an unasked-for criticism as far as I recall, and if there was it would be damn bad form.

And it will always be so.

thanks CW for posting that, i know this, which is why i felt the need to make the comments i did. its really important to keep people on board and sometimes its the tone of advice given which to the newb can come across as a bit ,stitch countery' but anyway my comments were not intended to cause trouble - and i dont have a hidden agenda or grievance I merely wished to comment on and to highlight what i felt was a growing trend on the forums. I am glad it has sparked off a nice meaty discussion though.

I know I can be a bit of a stich-counter sometimes, but you'll probably never run into me at an airsoft event in the UK anyway. So my opinions barely count for anything here ;)

Some of your are doing WW2 airsoft on a budget and that means cutting corners sometimes, but I applaud every effort made to look the part.

Hopefully my 'advice' has not offended anyone on here. I just like sharing what I know about (mainly US) uniforms with anyone who asks.

Rick

Rick, in truth we all have a bit of stitch-counter in us!

Many on this forum seek knowledge and it's fantastic that there are fellow enthusiasts who are happy to share that knowledge.

So, absolutely no offence has been taken by anyone. The great thing about this WW2 airsoft lark is that you can take it to whatever level you want. This is personal choice, no-one is judgemental and we are inclusive as a body. Long may it remain so.

P.S. Neill. You may be interested to know some hitherto secret information about our upcoming Stalingrad game - the Russian force will be entirely composed of 12 year olds and women with moustaches (drag acceptable). Uniform will be composed of rags and potato sacks. Shall I put you down for a family ticket? Our only rule will be that those without a sense of humour will be banned.

on a serious note, stalingrad could be done.

for the REAL sticth counters, russain uniform, for the casuall player

civvies , in a workers defence unit.

ex 1980s british army issue "chinese fighting suits" (cold weateher quilted suit in green) could be used as looks vaugely like .

the only problems would be the lack of russain ww2 airsoft guns.

lots of "captured mp40s" and lend lease thompsons :?

also a destroyed urban site, phoenix urbans gone hasnt it.??
maybe, with all these problems , it would just be too hard to do?

Only for Beltring from Wednesday to Sunday I'm afraid.

As for people taking offence, so far I've had only one. A 40 year old Belgian Army veteran complained to me after seeing the Market Garden Airsoft Video that you were all disgracing the red barret. This was on the Dutch Re-enactment board.
The admins and I concluded he had a stick up @rse and we have started to ignored him as:
A, he does not have, or want, anything to do with re-enactment
B, but he registered on the board anyway. Why?
C, he searches for topics to complain about.

As for a stalingrad game, you can pick up a post-war telogreika (padded winter uniform) for not too much cash from quite a few sources. Get some Czech helmets or Pilotkas and you're ready to go ;)

also on the stalingrad theme, you can ALWAYS get cheap fur hats at charity shops, ive bought a few for fancy dress/jokes in the past.
only one previous owner , (usually deceased), so they are cheap as chips
think i paid a pound for my last one

Belgium has/had an Army? Don't think my Grandfather back in '39 would have agreed ;)

Hah! so much interest in a ficticious game!

Stalindrad is on the list of stuff we are considering doing, as has been pointed out, it is very do-able.

Let's leave Stalingrad there for the time being....

Stalingrad???,
Damn ,i'll have to aquire a summer uniform by the winter, go on 1/6 th rations, live underground , wrap my feet in wrags, and stick my head in freezer for 8 hrs to aquire frost bite on nose. then i'll really be in the mood.
cant wait. be even better if someone out in china realises the demand and anticipation for a ppsh41
